Kitchen fire
Unattended cooking was blamed Wednesday night for a kitchen fire that caused about $2,100 in damages to a home at 507 S. Pineview Ave., according to a Goldsboro fire official. No one was injured.
Assistant Fire Chief Ray Boyette said the resident, Constance Coram, heard the smoke detector sound and got outside. Firefighters were called from a neighbor's house. Boyette said the fire damaged kitchen cabinets and the stove and burned a hole in the ceiling.
Thirteen firefighters answered the 8:59 p.m. alarm with three engines, a ladder truck and a command car. They needed almost an hour to put out the fire, ventilate the home, investigate the cause and finish salvage work.
Damage was estimated at $1,800 to the home and $300 to contents. The home, owned by Archie Lockamy, was valued at $90,000. Contents were valued at $5,000.
Traffic accidents
One person was injured and damages were estimated at $15,300 Wednesday in three traffic collisions in Goldsboro, police reported.
*A man on a moped was injured at 11:25 a.m. Wednesday in a collision with a stopped Goldsboro city truck on Parkway Drive near North Berkeley Boulevard, Goldsboro police said. Richard Brian Doverspike, 42, of Gable Drive, Dudley, was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. He also was charged with failure to reduce speed. The truck was operated by Donald Alexander McMullen Jr., 40, of Russell Drive, Pikeville. Damages were set at $500.
*Both vehicles were demolished in a wreck at 5:22 p.m. Wednesday at West Grantham Street and an exit to a service road, police said. One driver, Marcus Lindsey Trail, 44, of Quake Drive, was charged with a safe-movement violation. Police said Trail had started across the four-lane, divided highway and his minivan collided with an eastbound car driven by Michael Lee Hooks, 26, of Rose Landing Drive. Damages were put at $5,500.
*Damages were estimated at $9,300 in a two-vehicle crash at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday in the Edwards Truck Service parking lot at 917 S. Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway, police said. James Eric Jamison Jr., 71, of Misty Lane, was charged with a safe-movement violation. His vehicle collided with a parked vehicle registered to Myco Supply Co. of West Ash Street.
Investigations
Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these reports:
*An orange and white Bobcat loader and a black trailer were stolen between Thursday and Wednesday from Group W Management at 2084 U.S. 70 West, sheriff's deputies said. The loader was valued at $20,000 and the trailer at $2,000.
*About $1,000 in damages was inflicted between May 8 and Wednesday on a rental home in the 100 block of Ava Lane, deputies said. Three walls, a swimming pool, a deck and a screen were damaged. The owner, Sandra G. Barefoot of Goldsboro, also reported the theft of three closet shelves and three closet poles, valued at $300.
*Video-game equipment, three DVDs, a stereo, a watch, a duffel bag and $10 were stolen Wednesday after a door glass was smashed at an apartment in the 2000 block of East Elm Street, Goldsboro police said. The resident, Matthew L. Martin, estimated the value of his property at $660 and damage at $275.
*A John Deere lawn mower with a 48-inch cut was stolen between Tuesday and Wednesday from the 7400 block of U.S. 117 North, deputies said. The owner and resident, Carl Owen Benton, put a $2,000 value on the mower.
*A black and yellow four-wheeler was stolen between Tuesday and Wednesday from he 6000 block of U.S. 117 North, deputies said. The owner and resident, E.M. Yelverton, said the vehicle was worth $1,800.
Embezzlement
A 20-year-old Goldsboro woman was arrested Wednesday by Goldsboro police and charged with three felony counts of embezzlement.
Tomeka Worrells of Argo Street was accused of taking property from the Belk's store in Berkeley Mall, Investigator W.P. VanWijk said. She was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $1,000 secured bond.
Information sought
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is seeking information on vehicle break-ins on and near Walters Drive, near Stoney Creek Church Road.

Missing
Two 17-year-old girls from Goldsboro have been reported missing by relatives to Goldsboro police.
*Bridget Shannon Cobb of Lot 214, 3201 Central Heights Road, was described as black, 5-feet-2 and 115 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion. When she was seen last at 2 p.m. Friday, she was wearing blue jeans, boots, hoop earrings and rings.
*Danielle Renee Lewis of 917 E. Elm St. was described as black, 5-feet-5 and 150 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and a brown complexion. No clothing description was available. She was seen last at 5 p.m. Monday.
Anyone with information on the location of either girl was asked to call police at 705-6572.
