Hulse named

Geoff Hulse, a Goldsboro lawyer with the firm of Barnes, Braswell & Haithcock, has been named to the North Carolina General Statutes Commission effective May 7.

The General Statutes Commission reviews proposed general statues involving all areas of law. The commission meets monthly at the legislative building in Raleigh.

Hulse was appointed to the commission by Dudley Humphrey, president of the North Carolina State Bar.

Mental Health event

The Mental Health Association in Wayne County's annual dinner and silent auction are tonight at Walnut Creek Country Club.

Tickets are $15 for people 12 and older and $7.50 for children under 12 and can be purchased at the door. The public is invited to attend.

A reception, silent auction and putting contest will begin at 4:30 p.m. The buffet dinner will follow at 5 p.m. At 6:30 p.m., winners will be announced for the silent auction and a live auction will begin.

The association will hold a golf outing Monday, also at the country club.
