Drug charges
Two people were arrested on felony drug charges Sunday by Wayne County authorities.
A 42-year-old man from Zebulon was arrested by the Highway Patrol and the Goldsboro-Wayne Drug Squad and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine. Charles Earl Lamm was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $40,000 secured bond.
State Trooper M.G. Conley stopped a vehicle on Arrington Bridge Road near Sleepy Creek Road. Officers said the car was suspected of being part of a methamphetamine manufacturing operation. Drug agents also responded and said they seized items used in manufacturing the drug.
A 24-year-old man from Goldsboro was arrested by Goldsboro police and charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and maintaining a vehicle for the purpose of keeping and selling drugs. Michael Lamonte Jones of Rosewood Avenue was jailed in lieu of a $5,500 secured bond.
Jones was stopped at North George and West Holly streets. He also was charged with failure to carry a driver's license, and he also was held on two outstanding arrest orders for traffic violations.
Investigations
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*A DVD player, a video-cassette recorder, a combination DVD-VCR player, 25 DVD movies and video-game equipment were stolen between Friday and Saturday from a home in the 200 block of Odom Farm Road, sheriff's deputies said. The resident, S.M. Franklin, put a $1,232 value on the property. No sign of forced entry was reported.
*A man said he had stopped Sunday along Arrington Bridge Road to fish and when he returned to his unlocked pickup, he found a CD player, 60 compact discs, three speakers and window tinting had been stolen, deputies said. Christopher Brian Mooney of Goldsboro said his property was valued at $1,540. A dashboard and door also were had about $500 in damages, deputies said.
*Twelve checks and money orders were stolen between Friday and Saturday after a door was damaged at Around Back Portable Storage Co. at 522 N.C. 581 North, deputies said. The stolen checks and money orders were valued at $976, and damage was set at $200.
Vehicles stolen
Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these vehicle thefts:
*A resident left the key in his car Sunday in order to charge his cell phone and today discovered that the auto was missing, sheriff's deputies said. Edgerton Mark McBryde of N.C. 581 North said his black, four-door Dodge Neon with North Carolina license plate SJV6143 was worth $16,000.
*A gray 1992 Cadillac Fleetwood was stolen Saturday from the 600 block of West Chestnut Street, Goldsboro police said. The owner, Jerry Eugene Fleming, said he had left the key in the car that was valued at $1,500.
*A four-wheeler was stolen between Saturday and Sunday from a shelter in the 2600 block of Old Smithfield Road, deputies said. The owner, Kenny Wayne Woodard of Princeton, put a $3,000 value on the vehicle.
*A burgundy 1992 Kawasaki four-wheeler was stolen between Tuesday and Saturday from the 200 block of Ann Street, deputies said. The owner and resident, Leigh Oliver, said the vehicle was valued at $500.
