Custodian sex charge
A prison guard at Neuse Correctional Institution has been charged with sex by custodian.
Shirleane Long, 43, of Brentwood Drive, Dudley, was charged on June 4 by Sgt. Anthony Carmon of the Goldsboro Police Department and SBI Agent Barbara Lewis. Ms. Long was placed under $2,500 unsecured bond and released pending a court date Monday.
The charge came out of an internal Department of Corrections investigation into improper conduct by a prison guard.
Crimes
The Goldsboro Police Department is investigating the following crimes:
*Tazmaea Williams of Mill Dam Lane told police an armed robber struck her on the head several times and took $24 in cash and her drugs. She said she was on the porch of the residence on East Walnut Street around 11 p.m. Friday when a man approached her and demanded her money and her drugs. She refused and walked off the porch, heading next door. She said he threatened her, followed her and struck her on the head two or three times with a blunt object. She said she fell to the ground, and he removed the cash and drugs from her hand and ran southeast from Slocumb and Walnut streets.
*Janet Clayton of Redfield Place said somebody used her credit card to get $48 worth of service at C.T. Nails at 1006 N. Berkeley Blvd. Police said the card has since been recovered by management at It's A Buck at 1805 E. Ash St. She said the last time she had seen the card was on May 30.
*Lashonda Trenesha McClary reported her green 1997 Pontiac Grand Am stolen from in front of her home on West Oak Street. She said the key is stuck in the ignition and cannot be removed. The car is valued at $5,000. The license plate number is SPK 4187.
*Somebody reportedly broke into the home of John Michael Rouse Jr. on Cashwell drive and took $200 in cash. He said he and his room mate had been absent between Wednesday and Friday. When they returned, they found the sliding glass door broken and the money gone.
*Police have recovered a 1997 Nissan 200 SX reported missing. Police found the car, valued at $2,500, in the parking lot of the Wayne Motel on West Grantham Street in front of Room 14. Police notified the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, which then notified the owner, Patsy Edmundson Futrelle of Falcon Drive, Pikeville. The car had received $700 worth of damage on the front bumper and the left quarter panel.
*Annette Lavern Edwards of Merry Go Round Child Care at 2006 N. William St. told police a woman tried to assault her Thursday night and used her vehicle to damage her property. Damage totaling $1,050 was done to her chain link fence and part of a swing set.
*A shooter apparently did $935 worth of damage to the radiator and put several dents in the rear doors and rear bumper of Carolyn J. Phillips' 2000 Toyota Camry. Ms. Phillips, who lives at Woodside Circle, said the damage occurred Thursday night in the 600 block of Corney Street after her daughter drove it to Club Paradise. She was told a fight broke out at the club, and there was random gun fire. She said her daughter left and tried to drive home, but the car over heated. When her daughter returned home, she said she found the damage to the radiator and the doors and rear bumper.
*Someone allegedly forged an $800 check written on a BB&T Bank account and tried to cash it at a medical facility at 2111 N. William St. The owner of the check, Dennis Ray Underwood of Clayton, said he received notice that someone had tried to cash a check on an account he had closed in September 2000. The business did not cash the check, but made a copy of it. He told police he does not know how the person got hold of his check.
*Samuel Stevens of North George Street told police someone set fire to a baby's crib that was on his back porch, causing $40 worth of damage.
*Shoneka Lavette Heath, 30, and Rahkeem Myelle Heath, 12, were treated and released at Wayne Memorial Hospital after someone assaulted them Thursday night in their home on Denmark Street. She said a man came to the home and started beating Rahkeem Heath, and when she tried to stop him, he began beating her. She said the man ran when he learned the police had been contacted.
*Crystal Nicole Butler of South Hillcrest Drive reported the larceny of a firearm Saturday afternoon. She said she went out of town on May 27 and when she returned, the handgun was missing. She described it as a black semi-automatic .380 pistol valued at $85.
*The owner of the Goldsboro Mini Mart convenience store at 601 W. Ash St. reported someone did $1,000 worth of damage to his bullet-proof Plexiglas window. He said a four-foot by eight-foot area looked like a shotgun had blasted it, but police said there was no other evidence to support that.
*Somebody allegedly stole a leaf blower and Weedeater, valued at a total of $450, from Pernell Best's truck while it was parked at his home on Banks Avenue.
Arrests
The Goldsboro Police Department has charged the following people with crimes:
*Lenwood Dozier II, 22, of Park Avenue, possession of cocaine and driving while license revoked. Bond $3,000.
*Matthew Lee Johnson, 20, of North Berkeley Boulevard, possession of a firearm by a felon. Bond $3,000.
*Linda Ann Jones, 44, of West Oak Street, no operator's license and three counts of resisting arrest. Bond $1,500.
*Chester Lee Armstrong, 56, of Lynch Drive, transporting an open container and possession of marijuana. Bond $600.
*Michael James Mont-gomery, 22, of West Grantham Street, possession of marijuana. Bond $500.
*Milton Robertson Jr., 28, of Annabelle Street, failure to appear in court on a March 30 charge of no operator's license. Bond $500.
*Leslie Ann Barwick, 22, of N.C. 55 east of Mount Olive, and Braxton Howard Pearsall, 23, of Old Smith Chapel Road, Mount Olive, both charged with larceny. Bond $500 each.
*Shiquita Keyonna Mc-Griff, 18, of South Leslie Street, resisting arrest and using profane language on a public highway. Bond $500.
*Renee Latrese Davis, 26, of Beal Street, communicating threats. Bond $500.
*Gregory Lynn Dillard, 42, of North William Street, driving while license revoked, expired registration and no insurance. Bond $300.
*William Kenneth Johnson, 48, of Linen Lane, driving while license revoked and no seat belt. Bond $300.
Traffic reports
*Goldsboro police did not charge Renita Katiya Rowe of Dupont Circle after she swerved to avoid a cat that ran out in front of her on Walnut Street late Friday night and ended up colliding with a tree and overturning her car. Damage to her 1984 Honda was $6,000. Damage to the tree, owned by the city of Goldsboro, was $250. Neither she nor her passenger were hurt.
*Police investigated two three-car pile-ups during the storm Friday afternoon. Caitlyn Virginia Stone of Old Grantham road was charged with failure to reduce speed after her 1993 Ford ran into the rear of another car on U.S. 117 north between Elm and Ash streets. She struck a 1995 Pontiac driven by Ana Delmys Jurcios of Mill Run Village, Mount Olive. The impact pushed her car into a 1997 Honda driven by Edward Allen Taylor of O'Berry Road, Dudley. Damage was $4,000 to the Ford, $1,000 to the Pontiac and $500 to the Honda.
*Three cars collided in the rain on Cuyler Best Road. Joshua Caleb Barbato of Cottonwood Drive was charged with failure to reduce speed after the 1996 Chevrolet he was driving struck the rear of a 1998 Ford driven by James Lee Deutsch of Big Daddy Road, Pikeville. The Ford hit a 2002 Ford driven by Jason Lyon Shastzinger of Kinston. Shastzinger had stopped to turn left into Quailwood Apartments, and Deutsch had stopped to wait for him to turn. Damage was $7,000 to Barbato's Chevrolet and $5,000 to Deutsch's Ford. Shastzinger's Ford was not damaged.
DWIs
The following people have been charged with driving while impaired:
*Mario Enrique Soto Perez, 21, of Emmaus Church Road, Seven Springs, also charged with failure to wear a seatbelt. Blood alcohol tested at .14. Bond $500.
*Nathaniel Armsted Waxter, 45, of Powell Street, Mount Olive, BAC .14. Bond $500.
*Daniel Aquilar Cruz, 19, of Emmaus Church Road, Dudley, also charged with reckless driving. BAC .14. Bond $800.
