Tip leads to arrest in bank robbery

An anonymous call to Crime Stoppers helped Goldsboro police arrest a man for last week's bank robbery.
The call, which came in over the weekend, provided enough information, Sgt. David Kelly said today, so that investigators could look for the robber.
The culprit's photograph was taken during the robbery and appeared in Sunday's News-Argus.
Quentin Bryce Barnes, 18, of North George Street, was found walking at West Holly Street and North Georgia Avenue, police said, and he was charged, without incident, for the robbery.
The armed robbery occurred Friday at the New Century Bank on North Spence Avenue near Cashwell Drive. Barnes also was charged with misdemeanor possession of a concealed handgun.
Barnes was taken before a magistrate, who set his bond at $101,000 secured. Barnes was to have a first appearance today in District Court to determine his legal representation.
Barnes was charged by police Investigator Dwayne Dean and FBI Agent Doug Rambaud.
The caller is expected to be paid a cash reward for the information. The caller also may be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000 from the N.C. Bankers Association.
