Houses in Golsboro, Seven Sprngs raided, closed

Two houses in Wayne County have been closed after weekend raids by state Alcohol Law Enforcement agents.
Nine people were arrested and charged with liquor or gambling violations, and more than $16,540 worth of property and cash was seized in the raids, which were at Seven Springs and Goldsboro.
The agents arrested three people and seized cash and property valued at more than $16,000 at 137 Drummersville Road near Seven Springs.
The three -- Sandy Lofton, 48, of Potts Road, Dudley; Jimmie McGee, 55, of Thoroughfare Road, and Verna Sutton, 47 of Forest Knolls Road -- were charged with four counts each of possession of alcoholic beverages for sale without obtaining a state permit and revenue licenses and three counts each of selling alcoholic beverages without obtaining a state permit and revenue licenses.
The agents also arrested and charged six people with alcohol or gambling offenses and seized cash and property worth more than $540 at 1010-A Devereaux St. in Goldsboro.
Those charged were:
*The resident, Robert Lewis, 61, who was charged with three counts of possession of alcoholic beverages for sale without obtaining a state permit or revenue licenses, two counts of selling alcoholic beverages without obtaining a state permit or revenue licenses and one count of gambling.
*Kelvin James, 37, of Fisher Drive in Rosewood, charged with two counts of possession of alcoholic beverages for sale without obtaining a state permit and revenue licenses and one count of selling alcoholic beverages without obtaining a state permit and revenue licenses.
*Mandrial Burden, 32, of East Walnut Street, who was charged with gambling, possession of lottery tickets and possession of marijuana.
*And Gordon Broadhurst, 72, of Devereaux Street; Reginald Moses, 40, of Evergreen Avenue, and Bernard Woods, 39, of Carver Boulevard, who were charged with gambling.
Wayne County sheriff's deputies assisted in the raids.
