Stolen items returned to grateful man

PRINCETON -- A Princeton resident said he "was tickled to death" to get back many of the collectible items stolen from his mobile home, according to Police Chief Eddie Lewis.
Gary Holland reported on May 10 the theft of old silver coins, NASCAR memorabilia, baseball cards and more than 100 Elvis Presley records, some of which were unopened.
The coins had a face value of $150, but were worth much more, Lewis said. The NASCAR items and the baseball cards were valued at $6,000, and the records were valued at $3,500.
Holland, who lives on Linda Street, had used the home for storage.
"I knew some silver was floating around town, and didn't know where it came from," Lewis said. "Several storekeepers had reported taking the coins."
Lewis' investigation led him to three young people who lived in a mobile home that was next to Holland's in a mobile home park in the 300 block of North Elm Street.
Charles Wayne Spivey, 22, was charged with breaking and entering and larceny. He was placed in the Johnston County Jail in Smithfield in lieu of a $40,000 secured bond.
Andrew Lawrence Kelly, 20, and Angela Renee Jackson, 16, were charged with possession of stolen goods. Each received a $5,000 secured bond.
Lewis said most of the items were recovered, except the coins and some NASCAR items that were sold at a flea market.
Lewis said Holland was very upset when the break-in happened but was glad to get back some of his property.
