Vehicles, cash stolen
The theft of two four-wheelers and cash, including collectible currency, is being investigated by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
A 2004 Honda four-wheeler and a green 2001 Kawasaki Bayou four-wheeler were stolen between Wednesday and Thursday from a farm shed near Arrington Bridge Road, deputies said. The thief had cut a padlock from the door in order to get inside.
The four-wheelers, owned by Lawrence C. Allen of Goldsboro, were valued at $11,500. Damage was set at $25.
About $2,000 in collectible money and $600 in cash were stolen between May 6 and Thursday after a screen was damaged at a home in the 300 block of Forest Knolls Road, deputies said.
The resident, Ed Wharton, estimated damage at $20. Later, about half of the collectible money and $400 were returned by a neighbor.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating three residential break-ins and larcenies Thursday:
*A DVD player, nine DVD movies, video-game equipment, track shoes and a duffel bag were stolen after a door was damaged at a home in the 1200 block of North Center Street, police said. The resident, Leatha Miller, estimated the value of the stolen property at $365 and damage at $50.
*A DVD player, five DVD movies and a compact disc player were stolen after a door and a window were damaged in an apartment in the 300 block of Courtyard Circle, police said. The thief also put a hot iron on the floor. The resident, C.M. Booker, estimated the stolen property's value at $325 and damage at $125.
*A computer, a television, a microwave oven, a DVD player and a video cassette recorder were stolen after a window air-conditioner was removed from an apartment in the 1700 block of Edgerton Street, police said. The resident, Andiwanda Campbell put a $750 value on the property.
House vandalized
An estimated $1,650 in damage was inflicted between April 30 and Thursday on a vacant, rental home in the 400 block of Fussell Street, a Goldsboro police report said.
Vandals damaged numerous windows, light fixtures, walls, a door glass, a toilet and a telephone jack. The home is owned by Kim Lane of Dudley. Juveniles are suspected of doing the damage.
House fire
A vacant, wood-frame house on Black Creek Road near Fremont was destroyed today in a fire, officials said.
Fremont and Eureka volunteer firefighters responded and said the fire was suspicious. Neither the owner, nor the value of the home was immediately available.
Collisions
One driver was injured and damages were estimated at $15,000 in two recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, the Highway Patrol reported.
*A sport utility vehicle was demolished in a wreck at 6:50 p.m. Wednesday on Wayne Memorial Drive near Saulston Road, the Highway Patrol said. The driver, Kimberly A. Green, 26, of Remount Place, was neither injured nor charged. The SUV ran off the right side, then came back across the road out of control, ran off the left side and struck a ditch. Damage was set at $14,000.
*A driver from Goldsboro was injured in a one-car crash at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday at N.C. 111 and Mount Carmel Church Road, the Highway Patrol said. Crystal Dawn Lupton, 29, of Mill Dam Lane was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. No charges were filed. Troopers said she braked but her car collided with an oncoming car that was making a left turn in front of her. The other driver fled. Damage to Ms. Lupton's car was put at $1,000.
Break-in
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office cleared a residential break-in with the arrest of a teen-ager on Thursday.
William Allen Jackson Jr., 17, of O'Berry Road, Mount Olive, was charged with breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen goods. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 secured bond.
On April 30, Jackson was accused of stealing 11 firearms, a safe and collectible currency and coins with a combined value of more than $6,500 from a home in the 700 block of Corbett Hill Road, Detective Sgt. Rick Farfour said. Two other detectives, Sgt. Ray Brogden and Robert Chunn, assisted in the case.
Safecracking
A 26-year-old man from Jacksonville was arrested Thursday on felony charges of breaking and entering and larceny.
Ernest Arthur Dean II, who was jailed in Wayne County on similar charges, was arrested on warrants from Burgaw police. His secured bond was set at $50,000.
Dean had been charged May 8 by Goldsboro police with three counts each of breaking and entering, larceny and safecracking. He was arrested soon after a predawn break-in at Andy's Restaurant at 400 N. Spence Ave. He was charged with that break-in and two others -- Feb. 8 at the same restaurant and Feb. 17 at the Andy's Restaurant in Mar Mac. He was being held in lieu of a $150,000 secured bond.
