Gov. Mike Easley has reappointed Earnest Waters of Goldsboro to serve on the state's Martin Luther King Commission for another four-year term.

It will be Waters' third term on the commission, beginning July 1 and running through June 2008. He was first appointed in 1996 by then-Gov. Jim Hunt. There are 16 members from across the state that meet four or five times a year. Waters is the only representative from Wayne County and said he has never missed a meeting.

"I believe if you're asked to be on something, you serve," he said.

He said the purpose of the commission is to assist municipalities and county government with information about Martin Luther King, maintain the philosophy of Dr. King and try to keep his dream alive.
