GREENVILLE -- The East Carolina University School of Music will present "Oboe Connection," a two-day event including master classes, private lessons and recitals on campus Friday and Saturday, May 14 and 15.

Professor of oboe Bo Newsome designed the event for advanced oboists, but welcomes beginning and future oboe players to audit the activities.

Guest clinicians are Michele Burke Kirkdorffer, assistant professor of oboe at James Madison University, and Heather Haydu, principal oboe of the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra of Calgary, Alberta.

Ms. Kirkdorffer was a founding member of the Kaleidoscope woodwind quintet in Cincinnati and currently performs with the James Madison University Montpelier Wind Quintet. She performs on soundtracks for The Learning Channel and National Geographic.

Ms. Haydu has performed with the Victoria Symphony and the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, the Alberta Baroque Ensemble, and in 2002 performed at the annual meeting of the International Double Reed Society.

People can register or get more information by contacting Bo Newsome at newsomeb@mail.ecu.edu or 1-252-328-6331.
