Ms. Rustin, who is Wayne County's library director, is the president-elect of the N.C. Public Library Directors Association.
The original notice follows:
Two Goldsboro residents have been selected for positions to help improve the state's libraries.
Bill Smith, a retired lawyer and active volunteer, has been appointed by Gov. Mike Easley to the State Library Board.
And Jane Rustin, director of the Wayne County Public Library, is the president-elect of the N.C. Library Association.
Drive nets 400
Nearly 400 high students were registered to vote this year during the Wayne County Board of Elections' lunchtime registration drive.
The drive ended Thursday at Rosewood High School with 36 students signing up.
Results at other schools were Eastern Wayne High, 37 registrations; Goldsboro High, 43; Southern Academy, 2; Southern Wayne, 89; Spring Creek, 28; Wayne Christian, 7; Faith Christian, 12; Charles B. Aycock, 114; Belfast Academy, 9; and Wayne Country Day, 11. That totals 388.
Anyone who is already 18 or who will become 18 by Nov. 2 is qualified to vote in both the July 20 primary election and the November general elections. For more information, call 731-1411 or go to www.waynegov.com/boe.
Pickle Festival to begin
N.C. Pickle Festival events begin tonight in Mount Olive.
Carnival rides open at 5 p.m. downtown and a concert by the Band of Oz will start at 8 p.m. at the Mount Olive Municipal Airport.
The main event begins Saturday at 9 a.m. and continues until 8 p.m., with vendors and a variety of entertainment.
On Sunday, the festival's first walk-a-thon will be held from 2 p.m. until 5:50 p.m. in Westbrook Park. Walkers can come at any time up until 4:30 p.m. to begin their walk.
Bring your+ lawn chairs to the walk-a-thon, because when it's over at 5:30 p.m., a community worship service will be held at the Westbrook Park.
