The Wayne County commissioners agreed Tuesday to call a public hearing for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, to consider John Lawhorne's request to rezone vacant property at the southeast corner of the intersection of Airport Road and Aviation Drive.
The property is zoned "airport," which Lawhorne wants changed to "light industry." He has said that he plans to build a mini-storage business and a small office complex.
Also, the board did the following:
*Proclaimed May as "Mental Health Month in Wayne County."
*Updated the list of tax-exempt properties to include new churches completed in the last year.
*Went into closed-door session to discuss industrial prospects, personnel matters and client-attorney issues. No vote was taken afterward.
