Investigations
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*Four .22-caliber rifles and two shotguns were stolen Monday after a door glass was smashed at a home in the 100 block of Tilghman Drive, sheriff's deputies said. The resident, Ronald Lee Mansfield, put a $1,750 value on the firearms. No damage estimate was listed.
*Two sofas, three tables, a stove and decorative items were stolen between Wednesday and Monday after a door was damaged on a mobile home at Steve Jones Homes at 4407 U.S. 70 East, deputies said. The stolen property was valued at $2,500, and damage was set at $700.
*Video-game equipment and four DVD movies were stolen between Sunday and Monday from a home in the 200 block of Becton Circle, deputies said. The thief had pried open a door to get inside. The resident, Dwane Kenneth Bowers, said his property was worth $210.
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*Two televisions and about $250 were stolen between Sunday and Monday from an apartment in the 300 block of Brazil Street, police said. The resident, Larue M. Jones, put an $858 value on the property. No sign of forced entry was reported.
*A fax machine, four telephones and a cell phone were stolen between Thursday and Monday from an apartment in the 1000 block of East Walnut Street, police said. The resident, John D. Tilton, said the property was worth $386. No sign of forced entry was listed.
Man wanted
A Goldsboro man is wanted by Goldsboro police on felony charges of breaking and entering and larceny.
James Alexander "Baby Boot" Brewington, 37, was described as black, 6-feet and 190 pounds with short black hair and brown eyes. Police say he may be in the 400 block of North Taylor Street or the 1800 block of Rose Street.
Anyone with information on his location was asked to call police Investigator W. Paul VanWijk at 580-4203 or Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers at 735-2255. Callers may remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
False report
A Duplin County teen-ager was arrested Monday by Goldsboro police and charged with making a false police report.
Kenneth Mark Pendergraft, 17, of Willie V. Barwick Road, Albertson, had reported that a Hispanic man had shot him in the leg April 3 during an attempted robbery in the 3500 block of Central Heights Road, police said.
Police Investigator M.K. Horstmann said he determined that Pendergraft had accidentally shot himself in the leg and fabricated the report. Pendergraft was released from custody on a $7,000 unsecured bond.
Driver injured
A driver from Goldsboro was injured in a two-car collision at 3:20 p.m. Monday on Hugh Street near Olivia Lane, Goldsboro police said. Lakisha Shantal Young, 22, of Pou Street was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The other driver, Jerry Wooten, 45, of Olivia Lane, was charged with a safe-movement violation. Police said Wooten had backed from a driveway and collided with Ms. Young's northbound auto.
Fraud charge
A 42-year-old woman was arrested Monday by Goldsboro police and charged with felony embezzlement.
Katherine Tyree of Cream Ridge Lane, Pikeville, was accused of embezzling more than $14,000 from Shepard Electric Supply Co. of Goldsboro, Sgt. Anthony Carmon said. She was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $3,000 secured bond.
