Wayne youth to present livestock at annual event

About 80 young people will be showing off their prized possessions this year at the 56th Annual Wayne County Junior Livestock Show and Sale.
The event will be April 13-14 at the Wayne Regional Fairground's livestock arena. It is sponsored by the Wayne County Livestock Development Association Inc. along with the N.C. Cooperative Extension Service.
The schedule is as follows:
Tuesday, April 13:
*8 a.m. to 11 a.m. -- Weigh in Animals
*6 p.m. -- Junior Meat Goat Show (show classes are novice -- ages 4-8; junior -- ages 9-13; and senior -- ages 14-19)
*8 p.m. -- Junior Feeder Calf Show (show classes are junior -- ages 9-13 and senior -- ages 14-19)
Wednesday, April 14:
9 a.m. -- Junior Market Hog Show (show classes are novice -- ages 6-8; junior -- ages 9-13; and senior -- ages 14-19)
1 p.m. -- Livestock Judging Contest
6 p.m. -- Supper
7 p.m. -- Awards Presentation
7:30 p.m. -- Sale
Several people and businesses added money to individual exhibitors immediately after their animal was sold at auction last year, said Milton Ingram, association's manager. The association will not be able to accept add-on money for individual exhibitors this year due to the possibility of creating problems with its nonprofit status.
Those wanting to add money to a certain exhibitor should pay the money directly to the exhibitor because it cannot go through the association's accounts. There will be no advertising benefit for money paid directly to exhibitors.
Other supporter options include: contributing to help with show premiums or add to the sale price by making a check payable to the association and mail to P.O. Box 1100, Goldsboro, N.C. 27533; attend and bid at the auction; or allow the show's management staff to bid for the supporter based on the amount that the buyer wants to contribute.
