A woman riding a motorcycle died Tuesday, two days after she wrecked on Old Mount Olive Highway, a Highway Patrol report said.
The victim was identified as Patricia Ann Cheek, 49, of 9104 Crosswinds Court, Kenly.
State Trooper M.G. Conley said Ms. Cheek was going south on U.S. 117 at about 5:33 p.m. Sunday and turned left onto Old Mount Olive Highway.
"For some unknown reason," Conley said, she "lost control and was ejected from the motorcycle."
She was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where she was stabilized and then transferred to Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, where she died.
The fatality was the eighth this year on Wayne County roads, including two in Goldsboro.
Damage to the motorcycle was put at $1,000.
