Waynesborough Village holds T-shirt contest

Waynesborough Historical Village is sponsoring a T-shirt design contest that is open to all art students and artists in Wayne County.
The purpose is to design a T-shirt for the Black History Expo, which will be at the village on May 1.
The rules are as follows: The participant must be a Wayne County resident; the artwork must be an original drawing reflecting a positive portrayal of the event; and it must contain the words: "Black Expo -- A Glimpse of History."
The contest is limited to three designs per artist, and the design is up to the artist, with all media accepted.
The participant must bring the artwork to the village, and it needs to have on the back the person's name, address, phone number and T-shirt size. Students must include their school and the name of their art teacher.
Deadline for entries is 4 p.m. on April 5. The event's planning committee will notify the winner by telephone on April 6 by 5 p.m. The winner will be presented with a T-shirt of his design and a $50 gift certificate to a local art supply store.
The exposition will be highlighted by a gospel sing with about eight different groups. There will also be various displays, exhibits and demonstrations in the village that have a black history theme. Anyone wishing to volunteer or participate during the event should call Colleen Baker, village administrator, at 731-1653.
The village is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and it is closed on Monday.
