Store raided;
alcohol seized
A Goldsboro store was raided, beer and wine was seized and the shopkeeper was charged by state Alcohol Law Enforcement officers.
ALE officers, armed with a search warrant and assisted by Goldsboro police, on Friday night raided Ward's Package Store at 414 S. John St.
Thurman Keith Ward, 66, of Franklin Street was charged with five violations -- three counts of possession of alcoholic beverages for sale without the applicable ABC permit and revenue licenses and two counts of sale of alcoholic beverages without the applicable ABC permit and revenue licenses.
Officers seized more than 86 liters of beer, 15 liters of wine and cash. The combined value of the alcohol and the money was put at more than $400.
Investigations
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*A satellite radio, an amplifier, a satellite stereo receiver and about $225 were stolen Tuesday after a car window and a console were damaged in the Brogden Middle School parking lot, sheriff's deputies said. The owner, Christy Lee Truesdale of Clayton, estimated the value of her property at $1,600, in addition to the cash, and damage at $400.
*A radar detector, a jean jacket, a cellular phone and a car cigarette lighter were stolen Tuesday after a car window was smashed in the Neuse River Shopping Center parking lot, deputies said. The car owner, Luis Alonzo Ramirez of Dudley, estimated the value of his radar detector and lighter at $110 and damage at $100. Sonia Villalobos Henriquez of Dudley said her jacket and phone were worth $70.
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*Two cordless phones were stolen Tuesday after a glass door was smashed in an apartment in the 300 block of North Hillcrest Drive, police said. The resident, Dianne Hallman, put a $300 value on the phones and estimated damage at $250.
*A radar detector and a cell phone charger were stolen Tuesday after a car window was shattered in the Wayne Community College parking lot, police said. The owner, Kathryn H. Luter of Dudley, estimated her property's value at $145 and damage at $100.
*An undetermined amount of money was stolen from two coin-operated pool tables at Wayne Community College, police said. Damage was set at $50.
Drug charge
A 18-year-old man from Goldsboro was arrested Tuesday by the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad at Hugh Street and Olivia Lane and charged with a felony drug offense.
Anthony B. Maddox of Cardinal Drive was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 secured bond.
Car-truck crash
A driver was charged with two violations Monday after the car that he was driving collided with a cement truck at Indian Springs and Northeast Church roads, the Highway Patrol said.
William Allen Jackson IV, 17, of O'Berry Road, Mount Olive, was charged with exceeding a safe speed and driving left of center. Troopers said he was turning from Northeast Church Road and the car collided with a stopped S&W Ready Mix Concrete Co. truck from Clinton. The truck driver was identified as James Warren Sinclair, 35, of Clinton.
Damage was estimated at $5,000 to the car and $1,000 to the truck.
