MOREHEAD CITY -- The North Carolina Blackbeard Fest is scheduled for May 14 and 15 in Morehead City and in Beaufort.
The annual festival showcases the Queen Anne's Revenge project. The ship is proving to be the flagship of Blackbeard, the 18th century pirate.
On Friday, May 14, the Maritime Museum in Beaufort will hold a Blackbeard Fest Symposium from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., which includes a boat trip to the Revenge shipwreck site. That evening there will be a barbecue with pirates and music. Tickets may be purchased in advance and on site.
The main festival is Saturday, May 15, in the Jaycee Park at South 9th and Shepard streets in downtown Morehead City.
