MOUNT OLIVE -- The Mount Olive High School Steering Committee will meet Tuesday, March 30, at 7 p.m. in the courtroom at Mount Olive Town Hall.
The purpose of the meeting is to create a more formal organization and to broaden community involvement in the effort to get a new high school in the area.
Letters will be sent to those who attended the March 4 community forum and to those who indicated on a survey that they wanted to be involved.
"This meeting is open to anyone who is interested in seeing a high school returned to Mount Olive and who want to do something to help," said Lynn Williams of the steering committee. "Getting our high school will take a lot of effort by a lot of people in the community."
The next community forum will feature a representative from the New Schools Project, created with funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to establish small high schools in North Carolina.
The date has not yet been set. Another goal is to decide on fund-raising efforts.
