'Annie' at GHS
Goldsboro High School will present the musical "Annie" this week.
The students will perform for the public Saturday at 7:15 p.m. at the school.
County school students will also see performances Wednesday through Friday.
Little Miss Daffodil
Katie Knotts, a fifth-grader at Fremont STARS School, has been crowned Little Miss Daffodil for the 18th annual Daffodil Festival.
The daughter of Stephen and Sheila Knotts, she will be introduced during the festival's opening ceremonies Saturday.
Jessica Davis was the first runner-up, and Jessie Stewart was the second runner-up.
Paige Stewart, a senior at Charles B. Aycock High School, was crowned Miss Daffodil in an earlier ceremony.
The festival in downtown Fremont will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Bowles to visit
Erskine Bowles will be in Goldsboro next month to raise money for his U.S. Senate campaign. He will also speak at the Goldsboro Rotary Club meeting.
On Tuesday, April 6, Bowles will be given a reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Goldsboro home of Phil and Margaret Baddour.
Tickets are $100 per couple or individual with sponsors also available. Call 778-5218 by March 31 for more information.
The Rotary Club meeting will be that day at 1 p.m. at the Goldsboro Country Club. Lunch is $5.
Bowles, 58, a Charlotte businessman and former White House chief of staff, is running for the U.S. Senate seat now held by John Edwards. A Democrat, Bowles ran unsuccessfully in 2002 for the state's other Senate seat and lost to Elizabeth Dole. In Wayne County, he received around 40 percent of the vote.
