Man gets 2 DWIs in same night after returning to road

According to Goldsboro Police Maj. Mike Hopper, the driver was in a wreck on Arrington Bridge Road that the Highway Patrol responded to. The driver fled the scene of the accident, and about 15 minutes later he wrecked on U.S. 117 South. At that accident, a citizen took the man to the Police Department where he was charged with DWI. He then spent the night in jail.
The Highway Patrol trooper heard of the arrest and saw that it was the same person who left the accident on Arrington Bridge Road. He also charged the driver.
Edward Antonio McCain, 23, of Red Springs, was charged by both the Highway Patrol and the Police Department with DWI.

A man from Red Springs was involved in two traffic accidents and charged twice Monday night with driving while impaired.
Edward Antonio McCain, 23, was charged first at about 10 p.m. by Goldsboro police. According to the wreck report, McCain was driving northward in the southbound lanes of U.S. 117 South and met two oncoming vehicles. He swerved to the right, crossed the median and stopped in the ditch off the right side, the report said.
One of the oncoming drivers, Greg L. Ward of Goldsboro, stopped to help McCain and then took him to the Police Department. Officer Michael Sweet charged McCain with driving while impaired and reckless driving. McCain refused the breath-analysis test.
About 15 minutes later, McCain was charged by state Highway Patrol Trooper Robert Thaxton on Arrington Bridge Road, or N.C. 581, near U.S. 117. McCain also was involved in a collision, the citation said, but Thaxton's report had not been completed this morning.
McCain registered .24 percent blood-alcohol content, three times the legal limit for presumed impairment. Thaxton charged McCain with driving while impaired, driving while his license was revoked and hit and run.
McCain was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of two secured bonds totaling $1,600.
