Pizza man robbed
A pizza delivery man was robbed Saturday night by three teen-agers of about $95 and $18.30 worth of food, a Goldsboro police report said.
Johann Gylfason, 23, of Goldsboro was delivering for It's Always Pizza Time of 2314 N. William St. He told officers that he had stopped at about 10:45 p.m. at a home in the 200 block of East Vine Street.
An armed suspect, about 14 to 16 years old, approached him from behind, demanded his money, grabbed it and the food and fled, police said. The gunman was described as black, 5-feet-5 and 115 pounds with a thin build, and he wore blue jeans, a yellow shirt and a thin jacket. The others could not be described.
Three hurt in wrecks
Three people were injured and damages were estimated at $33,600 in five recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, officers reported.
*A driver from Goldsboro was injured in a two-car collision at 6:45 p.m. Sunday on N.C. 111 South near U.S. 70 East, Goldsboro police said. Jadie Demon Taylor, 19, of North Audubon Avenue was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. Taylor, who was leaving a parking lot, also was charged with a safe-movement violation and improper equipment. The other driver was identified as Christopher Jermaine Cooper, 22, of Armstead Avenue. Damages were set at $8,300.
*A driver from Goldsboro was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Wayne Memorial Drive and Ninth Street, police said. Jennifer Thompson, 21, of Hickory Road was released after emergency-room treatment. A southbound motorist, Jeannette Louise Berard, 32, of Fairfax Station, Va., was charged with a stoplight violation. Damages were put at $2,800.
*Damages were estimated at $17,000 in a two-vehicle collision at 8:51 a.m. Saturday at Wayne Memorial Drive and an exit ramp from Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway, the U.S. 70 bypass, police said. A southbound driver, Nancy Anne Willis, 28, of New Bern, was charged with a stoplight violation. The eastbound driver was identified as Timothy Edwards Stamatis, 31, of West Tarklin Drive.
*A bicyclist was struck by a car at 5:03 p.m. Friday at North Herman Street and a driveway to Herman Park Center, police said. Tracy Lashell Tolliver, 39, of Atlantic Avenue was released after emergency-room treatment. The driver, Lasonia Cosette Mickens, 36, of Hideway Circle, Dudley, was charged with a safe-movement violation.
*Damages were estimated at $5,500 in a two-vehicle collision at 5:38 p.m. March 8 at N.C. 55, N.C. 403 and Pineview Cemetery and Zion Church roads, the Highway Patrol said. A southbound driver, Jose Castaneda, 50, of Eagles Nest Road, Dudley, was charged with a stop-sign violation. The eastbound motorist was listed as Maria Guadalupe Reyes-Mendez, 15, of Camp Jubilee Road, Seven Springs.
Investigations
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*Fishing equipment, including six rods, lines, a lift tool rig and eight pairs of waders, have been stolen from a rental storage locker at Little River Mini Storage at 166 Claridge Nursery Road, sheriff's deputies said. The renter, Scott Kevin Glascoe, put a $2,740 value on his property. The thief had cut the lock and replaced it with another.
*Weights, a weight bench, dumbbells and other weightlifting equipment has been stolen from Dudley Fitness Center at 4060 U.S. 117 Alternate, deputies said. The property was valued at $3,240.
*A 1980 enclosed trailer carrying camping gear was stolen between March 7 and Saturday from Free Chapel Church at 3302 N.C. 111 North, deputies said. The trailer was valued at $800, and the other property was valued at $1,110.
*Fifteen DVD movies and video games were stolen Friday after a window was smashed at a home in the 100 block of Perry Farm Lane, deputies said. The resident, L.M. Hare, estimated the property's value at $275 and damage at $15.
Burglar strikes
A burglar stole about $1,360 worth of property before dawn Sunday while a resident was asleep in his unlocked home in the 1400 block of East Ash Street, Goldsboro police said.
Christopher Robert Blake reported the theft of video-game equipment, a digital camera and a watch, valued at $750. Two other residents were away when the crime was committed. John Paul Hicks reported the larceny of video games, valued at $100, and Jeremy Stevens said he lost about $510 worth of property, including video-game equipment, a cell phone, alcohol and $20.
Police also are investigating these reports:
*Four 16-inch tires and wheels, stereo equipment and tools were stolen Friday after a car window and an ignition switch were damaged in the 1700 block of North George Street. The stolen property was valued at $1,755. Damage to the car, owned by Catrina Jones of Goldsboro, was set at $250.
*A small safe was stolen Friday after apartment doors were damaged in the 300 block of East Mulberry Street. The resident, Ronnie Bell, put a $50 value on the safe and estimated damage at $100.
Fires
Two fires -- one that destroyed a mobile home and another that damaged a car and a shed -- have been called suspicious by authorities.
A mobile home at 102 Overton Lane, Pikeville, was destroyed early Friday. The home, valued at $2,000, was owned by Debbie Overton of Mark Edwards Road.
A witness told Wayne County sheriff's deputies that she had seen a van pull up to the home at about 1:35 a.m. and a man had gotten out. Then the van went to the end of the road, turned around and picked up the man, deputies said. Moments later, the 1969 New Moon mobile home was engulfed in flames. Volunteer firefighters put out the fire.
A Dodge van and a shed were destroyed Friday in a fire at 317 Stronach Ave. Goldsboro firefighters said they could not determine the cause. The van was valued at $3,000 and the shed at $1,000, police said. The van was registered by Stacy Pittman of Goldsboro, and the shed was owned by Daryl Pittman, the report said.
