The Wayne County Sheriff's Office has charged a Dudley man with murder in the death of a 5-month-old baby.
Timothy Ray Carmon, 35, of Outlaw Road was charged this morning with murder and held in the Wayne County Jail without bond.
Detective Sgt. Tammy Odom investigated the death of Kalandra Rene Carmon with help from Deputy Tony Morris. The child was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital on Feb. 13 and airlifted to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville where she was pronounced dead on Feb. 15.
Wayne County Sheriff Carey Winders said, "Any unwarranted, unnecessary death is a tragedy, but especially when it involves an innocent child. Investigating this type of case is emotionally draining for the investigating officers and all persons involved."
