Historic story contest deadline

The Wayne County Historical Association is sponsoring a story contest and the deadline for entries is March 15.
The stories will be judged in three age categories: up to high school, high school, or adult. They should be true accounts set between 1730 and 1975 and relate to Wayne County families, individuals, events or places; memories of events like wars, proms or the centennial of Goldsboro; be about family stories, legends or ghost stories; or be a story that tells about what life was like in the county during a specific time period. They can vary in tone and emotion. They should also be up to five pages typed, double spaced, in no smaller than 11-point font size or written in black ink on 8.5-by-11-inch paper.
The association has $300 that will be divided amongst the winners in the three categories. Second- and third- place winners will receive various items from the museum's gift shop. Staff members of the Wayne County Public Library will judge the entries.
If the story submitted was told to the author by someone else, that person's name should appear in the entry.
Participants should send their entries to: Wayne County Museum, 116 N. William St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27530, Attn: Story Entry. People can also bring them by the museum. The entries must contain, on the first page, the person's name, address, phone number, e-mail address if available, and age category.
