Arts Council to advertise Art Mart

The Arts Council of Wayne County Board of Directors has voted to have a sign placed in front of the Art Center to remind the public of its art market. Richard Lambert agreed to be in charge of getting the sign.
Phyllis Woodard suggested also looking into using Web sites, such as the Chamber of Commerce's, to advertise the art market.
*In other business, Mrs. Woodard updated the board about the "When Pigs Fly" project.
The sculpture, "When Pigs Fly on a Starry Night," will be unveiled at Southern Bank in Mount Olive at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Another sculpture, "When Pigs Fly, We Will Harvest Rainbows," will be unveiled on Thursday, March 25, at 11 a.m. on Main Street in Fremont.
Mrs. Woodard handed out a list of the pig sculptures and their current status. Some need sponsorship money, others are awaiting display locations and others are being painted or need an artist to paint them. A few are already being displayed.
Mrs. Woodard asked the board to help her sell sponsorships.
*Ron Taylor, board president, said work is under way for an appraisal fair. Dates being considered are April 16 and 17, and a couple of appraisers have agreed to participate. More are needed. Categories will be jewelry and silver, furniture, art, china and glass, and memorabilia.
*Taylor asked board members to each bring names of two people who might be interested in serving on the Arts Council board to the meeting on March 25. Several members are rotating off the board this summer.
