'Mockingbird' trivia
Persistence paid off for Lynn Rabhan of Trappers Run Drive. She had entered the "Wayne County Reads" trivia context every week. Friday she won.
Last week's question was, what was Mary Badham's Academy Award-nominated role in "To Kill A Mockingbird"?
She was the child actress who played "Scout Finch" in the 1962 film. She only appeared in two other films and on a few TV shows before retiring. She now lives in Virginia and often makes appearances to talk about the film.
This week's question: Where were the rest of the Ewell children at the time of the alleged assault on Mayella Ewell?
Send answers to our office at 310 N. Berkeley Blvd.; mail them to Trivia Contest, Goldsboro News-Argus, P.O. Box 10629, Goldsboro, N.C. 27532; or e-mail mshaw@newsargus.com. Include your name, address and telephone number.
Grantham rally
A public meeting to discuss a community high school in Grantham will be held on Tuesday night at 7 in the Grantham School gymnasium.
School board members have been invited to attend and answer questions.
Community members
have gathered a petition to try to get funding for a
high school. Mount Olive
residents held a similar
rally Thursday to try to
get a high school for their town.
Meanwhile, the school board and county commissioners have discussed holding a bond referendum to pay for the county's school construction needs, but no funding decisions have been made.
