$95,000 worth
of meth seized
Officers from the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad seized about $95,000 worth of methamphetamine Thursday.
Gustavo Lopez Juarez, 31, of Church Road, LaGrange, was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine by possession and transportation and maintaining a vehicle for the purpose of keeping and selling illegal drugs.
About a pound of methamphetamine was seized. Juarez was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $400,000 secured bond.
The drug squad was assisted by the State Bureau of Investigation and the Wayne County Sheriff's Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team, helicopter unit and detectives.
Burglary
A 38-year-old Goldsboro man was arrested by Goldsboro police and charged with first-degree burglary and common-law robbery on Thursday, the same day that he was pictured in the News-Argus.
Edgar Lee Warrick of Clingman Street was accused of barging into a home on Royall Avenue before dawn Tuesday and stealing $80 and a cell phone from the resident, Investigator M.K. Horstmann said. Warrick was arrested by Investigator W.P. VanWijk and Mike Moore and D-shift Officers T.L. Collins and Hosea Newsome with his dog, Azo. Warrick was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 secured bond on the two felony charges.
Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers assisted in the case.
Two hurt in wrecks
Two people were injured and damages were estimated at $9,650 Thursday in three traffic collisions in Wayne County, officers reported.
*A driver from Goldsboro was injured at 5:30 p.m. Thursday on North Spence Avenue on the Henson Barnes Bridge over Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway, the U.S. 70 bypass, Goldsboro police said. Laquita Shawnte Carter, 24, of West Seymour Drive was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. Floyd Bryant Jr., 28, of Jake Drive, Dudley, was charged with failure to reduce speed. Damages were set at $50.
*A driver from Goldsboro was injured at 10 a.m. Thursday at Edgerton Street and North Audubon Avenue, police said. Andra Edwards, 22, of Edgerton Street was released after emergency-room treatment. She was charged with driving while her license was revoked. Annie Frazier Baker, 90, of Edgerton Street, was charged with an improper left turn. Damages were put at $1,600.
*Damages were estimated at $8,000 at 9:50 a.m. Thursday on North Spence Avenue near Cashwell Drive, police said. William G. Stanley, 84, of South Madison Avenue, was charged with a safe-movement violation. Police said Stanley had pulled from a parking lot and his car collided with a northbound auto driven by Joan W. Rollins, 52, of Western Wayne Drive, Pikeville.
Investigations
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*A black, 16-foot utility trailer, a riding lawn tractor with a 52-inch cut, a gas-powered hedge trimmer and a tool box with tools were stolen Thursday from the 5700 block of Wayne Memorial Drive, sheriff's deputies said. The resident and owner, Daniel Lee Johnson, estimated his property's value at $7,725.
*About $1,780 in damages was inflicted on property in a home in the 100 block of Autumn Winds Drive, deputies said. The resident, Barbara J. Williams, reported damage to walls, two televisions, a video cassette recorder, a stereo, a radio, kitchenware and a coffee maker.
*Carpet and two windows have been stolen from a rental home in the 200 block of Kornegay Street, deputies said. The owners, Albert Brown and Linwood Baker, both of Rose Hill, put a $1,080 value on the property.
