Mount Olive firemen work to free a passenger in a pick-up truck that was hit by a tractor-trailer about 4 p.m. on Tuesday at Breazeale Avenue and N.C. 55 in Mount Olive. Spring Creek High School senior Michael Barrow, a passenger in the pick-up, was in stable condition this morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital recovering from injuries sustained in the collision. Ben Barwick of Dudley, driver of the pick-up, was charged with failure to reduce speed after he tried to turn left at Breazeale Avenue and into the path of the 18-wheeler driven by Harold Moon of Roanoke Rapids. Damage was $8,000 to the 1998 Ford pick-up truck and $2,500 to the 1989 G-Dan tractor-trailer rig. Barwick and Moon were treated at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
