'Mockingbird' trivia
In "To Kill a Mockingbird," the Finch children's aunt suggests their family is high class by showing them a book written by their cousin, Joshua St. Clair.
Is that the cousin who was locked up for so long? Jem asks. Joshua "went around the bend" and tried to shoot his university's president with a flintlock pistol. The resulting legal troubles cost the family $500.
Pinky Dixon of Farrior Road, Mount Olive, also knew about Joshua and was this week's winner of a hardback copy of the novel. Around a dozen correct entries were received to the trivia contest.
This week's question: What does it mean in the book when someone is said to "buy cotton" for a living?

The next "Wayne County Reads" event will be 7:30 p.m. Monday in the auditorium of Wayne Community College. Geoff Weiss, who teaches film studies at Mount Olive College, will show clips from the 1962 movie and talk about its influences. The hour-long program is free to the public.
Community computer classes
Community computer classes will be offered by the Wayne County Public Library at the Wade Edwards Learning Lab from now until April.
Classes will be on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6 until 8 and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Space will be limited, so it is recommended that people sign up early for classes.

Lunch and Learn
The Wayne County Chamber of Commerce will hold a Lunch and Learn Seminar on Tuesday.
The seminar entitled, "Understanding Communication in Your Personal and Professional Relationships," will start at noon and end at 1:15 p.m. in the chamber board room at 308 N. William St.
It will be presented by Anna Ferrell, an employee assistance professional with Cornerstone EAP. The fee is $10 per person, which includes a light lunch. For more information, call the chamber at 734-2241.
