Property stolen from home
An estimated $12,245 worth of property, including firearms, jewelry and entertainment equipment, was stolen Wednesday after a window was smashed at a home in the 100 block of Lakewood Drive near Dudley, a Wayne County sheriff's report said.
The resident, Billy Ray Baker, reported the theft of four handguns, an old coin collection, a computer, a printer, a video camera, about $650, four necklaces, two bracelets, a diamond broach, diamond earrings and other items.
The break-in occurred between 10:30 a.m. and 3:40 p.m., the report said. The thief also ransacked the house, damaging a dresser. Damage to the window and dresser was estimated at $275.
Four cars wreck near EWMS
Damages were estimated at $3,800 in a four-car crash at 3:25 p.m. Wednesday on Central Heights Road in front of Eastern Wayne Middle School, Goldsboro police said.
One driver, Gladys Mae Croston, 73, of Poplar Street, was charged with failure to reduce speed after the rear-end collision. The other drivers were identified as Valerie Elaine Martin, 20, of Quaker Drive; Raymond Bryant Jr., 53, of Ryan Boulevard, and Matthew Tyler Morris, 20, of Pittman Street.
Truck broken into
Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these reports:
*A Browning rifle with a scope, a case and ammunition, about $750 and prescription medicine were stolen Wednesday from a truck in the Pinewood Square parking lot in the 1000 block of North Spence Avenue, Goldsboro police said. The owner, Eric Brock of Fremont, put a $1,240 value on his property, in addition to the cash.
*Two pairs of binoculars were stolen between Tuesday and Wednesday after a window was smashed at A-Plus Homes at 103 W. Main St. in Eureka, sheriff's deputies said. A space heater also was damaged. The binoculars were valued at $300, and damage was set at $290.
*A black, 20-foot utility trailer was stolen Wednesday from behind Ernest Glass Co. at 710 N. William St., police said. The trailer was valued at $1,600.
*Two black T-tops for a 1995 Chevrolet Camaro were stolen Wednesday from the 600 block of Green Drive, police said. The owner and resident, Phillip Michael Gilbert, said they were worth $1,200.
