Pedestrian hit
Anthony Gray, 17, of Hopkins Street, was treated and released at Wayne Memorial Hospital Friday afternoon after he walked into the path of a car driven by Elaine Davis Coats of Pinkey Church Road, Fremont. About $100 damage resulted to the 1993 Pontiac. Police said a witness told them Gray was crossing the street when it happened on Ash Street between Leslie and Lionel streets. There were no charges.
Crimes
The Goldsboro Police Department is investigating the following crimes:
*Someone took the $2,100 Big Max Scooter from the yard at Rebeca Kay Sewel's house on North Carolina Street. She said Friday that the purple scooter was stolen the night before, and the steering column was locked.
*Somebody broke into a car parked at the McDonalds on Wayne Memorial Drive while its owner was working. Mark Anthony Lopez of Spring Bank Road, said thieves broke the window on the driver's side and took the CD player and radio, two speakers and two amplifiers, all valued at $545 from his 1992 Honda Accord. Damage was $100.
*Police are investigating a felony motor vehicle break-in that was reported Friday morning. Melanie K. Smith of North Quail Croft Drive said somebody forced entry to two vehicles and took items while the cars were parked in a parking lot on U.S. 117 Bypass North. The items reported stolen, valued at a total of $1,005, included a stereo CD player, a CD changer, a cell phone, a brass candle tree, two speaker mounts and wires, another compact disc changer and nine CDs and various home interior products. Ms. Smith said the thieves did $150 worth of damage to two windows and her dash to get inside her 1995 Honda Passport SUV. Another car, a 1996 Toyota Corolla, was entered by unknown means.
Accidents
Goldsboro police are investigating the following traffic accidents:
*A driver pulled his tractor trailer truck into a ditch while aiming for a parking lot on George Street. Ray Davis of Lumberton was charged with a safe movement violation. He said he didn't see the ditch. The 1990 Peterbilt sustained $4,000 in damage.
*Three cars collided at a driveway on Eleventh Street between William Street and Wayne Memorial Drive. Kyle Richard Maples of Milford, Vt., was charged with a safe movement violation. Layla Ann Hood of Falling Creek Church Road said she was going east on Eleventh Street when Maples made a left turn in front of her from the opposite direction. This caused the two cars to collide. The force of the impact caused Maples' Nissan to hit a third car, a 2000 Dodge driven by David Thomas Bradshaw of Wood Peck Road. The Dodge was stopped in the driveway heading out to get onto Eleventh Street. Maples' 2001 Nissan sustained $7,000 in damage. Ms. Hood's 1996 Nissan sustained $3,000 in damage. The Dodge sustained $1,500 damage. Nobody was hurt.
*Another driver turned left into the path of someone. Isaiah Floyd of Lionel Street was charged with a safe movement violation after a collision at Rose and Jefferson streets. Floyd said he was going south on Jefferson and tried to turn left onto Rose. He said he didn't see the other car, a 1997 Mitsubishi driven by Kenneth Loftin of Stephens Street. Floyd's 1998 Nissan sustained $5,000 in damage. The Mitsubishi sustained $2,000 in damage. Nobody was hurt.
