The United Way of Wayne County received a special Valentine's Day greeting from the Goldsboro plant of Cooper Industries' Cooper Bussmann division and the Cooper Crouse-Hinds plant at LaGrange.

It was a check for $9,559 to match all the 2003 United Way donations made by local Cooper employees. The United Way of Wayne County was one of 33 United Ways in Cooper communities to receive matching gift checks totaling $379,870 from the Cooper Industries Foundation on Cooper's special United Way Day.

"For 15 years, Cooper Industries has made United Way its largest single recipient organization by matching our employees' personal contributions. Last year alone, Cooper matched nearly $604,750 in contributions to the United Way," says David Hunter, personnel manager at Cooper Bussman, who presented the United Way with the company check. "Since 1989, over $25 million has been contributed by employees and the Cooper Industries Foundation to United Ways in communities where Cooper employees live and work.''
