Drug arrests
As a result of an investigation conducted by the Goldsboro/Wayne County Drug Squad, a man has been arrested on felony drug violations. Michael Shayne Lee, 27, Rose Street, was arrested Friday following a vehicle stop on Jefferson Street. He was found to be in possession of suspected steroids n the vehicle.
Prior surveillance led the officers back to the suspect's residence with a search warrant. A large quantity of prescription drugs was found. Lee was charged with possession with the intent to sell and deliver a schedule III controlled substance, maintaining a dwelling and a vehicle, possession with the intent to sell and deliver a schedule III controlled substance.
Lee was jailed under $100,000 secured bond. The estimated value of the drugs was $2,690.
A Bobwhite Lane man was also arrested on drug charges following an investigation by the drug squad and a search of his residence. Thomas C. Griffin, 24, was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a dwelling, possession with the intent to sell and deliver steroids, and maintaining a dwelling.
Bond was set at $5,000.
Forgery
Johnny Lee Harper Jr. of Tarboro was arrested on Friday by Goldsboro Police on charges of forgery and uttering. He is accused of altering a check and cashing it at the BB&T on Ash Street. Harper was arrested during a traffic stop, where he was charged with driving while license revoked.
He was placed in Wayne County Jail under a $3,000 secured bond.
Accident
Friday at 4 p.m. on Berkeley Boulevard, a car driven by Keith Ray Britt, 27, Mount Olive, was struck by another car in the right lane as he attempted to make a right turn into a construction site on Ash Street. Kristina Janel McFarland, 28, Dudley, was the driver of the other vehicle involved. Her car reportedly left the roadway and struck a mailbox.
Britt was charged with failure to see before turning. Damage to his car was estimated at $1,000, with $4,000 worth of damage reported to Ms. McFarland's vehicle.
Gunshots fired
Goldsboro Police investigated several reports of gunshots fired over the weekend, with two men injured in separate incidents.
*Police reports said Steven Donnell Artis, 19, of Stantonsburg was on the 400 block of N. Carolina Street at around 3:20 a.m. Saturday when he heard gunshots. He told police he and his friends ran toward his car and he was struck in the leg. He sought treatment at Wayne Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released.
In another incident on the 400 block of N. Carolina Street on Saturday morning, shots were reportedly fired into a parked car and into an unoccupied dwelling, damaging three interior walls. Damage to the car was estimated at $1,200 and $325 worth of damage was done to the residence.
Kenneth Dekeyser Jr. of the 400 block of N. Carolina Street told police he heard gunshots as he left his residence at noon on Saturday. He said he ran from the area and when he reached Vine Street, realized he had been shot in the left thigh. He was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released.
*At 1:54 a.m. Saturday morning, Catherine Gunter reported gunshots fired into her occupied dwelling on the 1100 block of Olivia Lane. No one was injured and a spent round of ammunition was found inside a front windowpane.
*Terry Ann Vonner of the 400 block of W. Vine Street told police an unknown subject fired a weapon at the rear of her residence sometime overnight Friday. She estimated $700 worth of damage to siding at her home.
