Human Relations Awards Banquet

A District Court judge will speak at the 30th annual Human Relations Award banquet, to be held Feb. 21 at the Goldsboro Country Club.
Judge Addie Rawls, District Court judge for Johnston, Harnett and Lee counties, was first appointed to her position by Gov. Mike Easley in 2002.
Last November she was elected to a four-year term.
Before becoming a judge, Mrs. Rawls was an assistant district attorney in Johnston, Harnett and Lee counties.
She also was a clerk for two years at the North Carolina Court of Appeals for Judge Sidney S. Eagles, Jr.
Mrs. Rawls currently serves as an associate minister at Shiloh Christian Church in Smithfield and at Peace Memorial Christian Church in Fayetteville. She serves as youth adviser, youth choir adviser, praise and worship leader, and is active in the Christian Women's Fellowship.
In addition, she is active in many community and civic organizations, which include: the Johnston County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council; United Way of Johnston County, the Johnston County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.; the Johnston County Partnership for Children; and the Advisory Council of Wilsons' Mills Elementary School.
In 1992, she married Marvin Eric Rawls of Williamston. They have a daughter Marica Zipporah, 9, and a son, Marvin Jr., 5.
