Drug roundup
Seven people were arrested Wednesday by the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad and charged with felony drug violations after an investigation and search of a home in the 400 block of East Chestnut Street.
The resident, Demarci Earl Davis, 23, was charged with possession with intent to sell four grams of cocaine and 34 grams of marijuana. He also was charged with resisting arrest. His bond was $25,000.
Jeffrey Randall Bryant, 30, of Old Smithfield Road, Princeton; Temoneyo Devonne Lofton, 27, of East Elm Street, and Tre Lamont Applewhite, 26, of Audubon Avenue were charged with possession with intent to sell cocaine and marijuana. Each was jailed in lieu of a $20,000 secured bond.
Andre Wallace DeVaughn, 25, of Workman Street was charged with possession with intent to sell cocaine and marijuana and misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon. His secured bond was set at $20,000.
Tavarus William Faison, 23, of Level Street was charged with possession with intent to sell cocaine and marijuana. He was jailed in lieu of a $20,000 secured bond.
Marsha Lynn Williams, 35, of Western Wayne Drive, Pikeville, was charged with conspiracy and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Her secured bond was set at $5,000.
Player charged
A reserve player on the Eastern Wayne High School basketball team was arrested Wednesday by a Wayne County sheriff's deputy at the school and charged with drug offenses.
Theodore Bernard Givens, 17, of Miller's Chapel Road was charged with felony possession with intent to sell marijuana and possession of marijuana on school grounds, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 secured bond.
Drug charge
A 24-year-old woman was charged Wednesday by Goldsboro police with a felony drug offense at Olivia Lane and Carver Drive.
Dequanna Yasmeen Cogdell of Brenn Loop Drive was charged with possession with intent to sell 3.5 grams of cocaine. Her bond was $7,500.
Nine hurt in wrecks
Nine people were injured and damages were estimated at $62,500 in seven recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, officers reported.
*A driver was charged with a safe-movement violation at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday on Wayne Memorial Drive near Lockhaven Drive, Goldsboro police said. Nikki Caroline Sanderson, 15, of South Bentonville Road, Four Oaks, was not injured after she pulled from a driveway. The van she was driving collided with a car driven by Christopher Robert Emerson, 32, of Mill Creek Court, police said. Damages were set at $4,800.
*Both vehicles were demolished but neither driver was seriously injured at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Sleepy Creek and Emmaus Church roads, the Highway Patrol said. Susan Roxann Yarbrough, 31, of Eagles Nest Road, Dudley, was charged with a yield violation and driving while her license was suspended. The other driver was identified as Rosa Baltodano, 43, of Indian Springs Road, Seven Springs. Damages were put at $14,000.
*A driver from Farmville was injured at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday on Artis Road near Lemley Road, the Highway Patrol said. Chrystal Denise Carmon, 20, was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. She was charged with exceeding a safe speed after her car ran off the left side and struck trees. Damage was estimated at $3,500.
*A driver from Dudley was injured at 4:40 p.m. Monday on U.S. 117 Alternate near U.S. 117, the Highway Patrol said. Paul Stephen Peterson, 31, of Dory Circle, Dudley, was released after emergency-room treatment. He was charged with reckless driving and driving left of center after his sport utility vehicle skidded off the road and struck a ditch. The SUV, valued at $4,000, was demolished.
*Damages were estimated at $5,000 at 9:15 p.m. Saturday on U.S. 117 near Big Daddy's Road, the Highway Patrol said. George Edward Mayes Jr., 19, of Friendship Drive, Fremont, was charged with improper passing. The other driver was Kristin Leigh Myers, 20, of Washington Street, Pikeville.
*Four people were injured and both vehicles were demolished at 6 p.m. Friday at U.S. 70 and Claridge Nursery Road, the Highway Patrol said. Bertram Lionel Bowers Jr., 44, and his passengers, Ada Bowers, 45, Eric Bowers, 13, and Brandon Bowers, 9, all of Havelock, were released after emergency-room treatment. Christopher Alan Peters, 22, of Frederickstown, Ohio, was charged with a safe-movement violation. The vehicles were valued at $21,000.
*Both drivers were injured and damages were estimated at $14,600 at 8:05 p.m. Jan. 23 at Sleepy Creek and Emmaus Church roads, the Highway Patrol said. Ann H. Stephens, 63, of Tramway Place and Mark Anthony Levi, 17, of N.C. 55 East, Mount Olive, were released after emergency-room treatment. Mrs. Stephens was charged with a stop-sign violation.
Break-in
An estimated $1,130 worth of property was stolen Thursday from a home in the 400 block of Club Knolls Road, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Mark Jeffery Colby reported the theft of a pressure washer, an electric keyboard, a small refrigerator, a video cassette recorder, a television and a microwave oven.
Missing
A 46-year-old woman was reported missing Thursday by a relative to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. Janie D. McFadden of 172 Legion Lake Drive, Dudley, was described as black, 5-feet-5 and 170 pounds with short black hair and a tattoo on her left arm.
She was seen last at 8 p.m. Wednesday and may be in a dark blue 1985 Chevrolet. Anyone with information was asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 731-1481.
