No quitting: Congress should not give up its effort to repeal Obamacare

It would seem on the surface that any effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act, the masterwork of the Obama administration, is dead. Last week, a measure that at least would have kept the issue on the table for debate, was defeated by a narrow margin in the Senate.

But President Donald Trump, to his credit, doesn't think so. He is continuing to call on conservative lawmakers in Congress to not give up the ghost, to not just say it can't be done.

We don't always agree with Trump. But on this we believe he is right. It is too early to give up the fight against Obamacare. The president knows very well that the people who elected him expected for him to fight for them when the going got rough and that is what he needs to do now -- refuse to give up without a fight.

Persistency is almost always part of any successful endeavor. And health care reform is too important to the American people just to let it die on the table.
