Goldsboro High: Changing principals at school has some people concerned

The end of the school year is upon us, and school officials have once again started playing musical chairs with principals and assistant principals.

The moving of principals from one school to another is not unusual. It happens almost every year.

But the reassignment of principal Robert Yelverton from Goldsboro High School after only a year has some parents and school supporters asking questions.

The change makes the fourth time in five years that a new administrator has been assigned to the troubled high school. A temporary principal will serve until a permanent one can be found.

We can only hope that the move was well thought out and will prove to be a positive thing for Goldsboro High and the school system at large. Superintendent Dr. Michael Dunsmore has said the Wayne County school system will be conducting a nationwide search for a new leader for the school.

We hope Dunsmore can pull off a magician's trick and yank a rabbit out of his hat.
