Honesty: There are still plenty of good people in this world

With all the negative news bombarding you almost nonstop these days you sometimes begin to wonder if there is anything good happening in the world.

Then someone like Frances Mooring comes along and reminds you that the world is still a place full of good people with big hearts.

Ms. Mooring, of Fremont, discovered an unsigned bank envelope that belonged to someone else. Without hesitation, she turned it over to the local authorities to hopefully get it back to its rightful owner.

Turns out, the rightful owner needed the money contained in the envelope to pay his bills.

Ms. Mooring was rewarded for her honesty this week by the Fremont Town Board but her real reward had already come -- the feeling that comes with knowing you did the right thing.

In another item in the recent news, an Ohio man found a bag of money beside a highway. It contained $14,000. He also turned the money over to the authorities, who located the thankful owner.

Some readers might think the man who turned in the money bag, and Ms. Mooring, threw away chances to improve their lot in life. Those readers don't know much about what is really valuable.
