Proof needed: President Trump's claim against Obama demands evidence

Well, we knew the day was coming. The day when President Trump would do or say something that we just had to comment on. It was almost inevitable, given his tendency to say what is on his mind without considering the fallout.

His claim that former President Obama tapped Trump's telephone during the election deserves a word.

Trump has offered no evidence to support his claim. If the president has any evidence that the above is true, then he should make it public immediately. To accuse Obama of such an offense without offering any evidence of any kind is irresponsible.

We are not fans of former President Obama nor his policies. We are glad Hillary Clinton is not president to continue and expand upon his left-leaning agenda. That is why we backed Trump.

But Obama deserves better than unmerited charges leveled at him without evidence

We like what Trump stands for -- America first, a strong military, a business-friendly climate -- but we don't agree with everything he says, or tweets.

If there is anything to what Trump is claiming about the wiretapping, he should tell what he knows and enlist Congress in getting to the bottom of it.

This is no small matter. When presidents are accused of breaking the law the truth needs to come out and soon. We have lived long enough to see too much misconduct in this high office.
