Mr. President: Donald Trump to be installed as 45th chief executive today

By the time most of you read this, Donald Trump will be president of the United States.

Not everybody is happy about the fact.

Trump's sometimes boorish behavior on the campaign trail left a sour taste in many Americans' mouths, and there are a number of big names that have decided to boycott his inauguration. Others are protesting the event.

But whether you like the man or not, he won the presidency fair and square and has earned the respect that any president deserves. There are some people who are hoping that he will fall on his face, that his presidency will be a failure. We are not among them.

We endorsed Trump for president even though he was not our first choice because we believed that he represented the best hope for our nation. It would be fine with us if he turned out to be the best president the nation has ever had. For if he does well, the nation will likewise do well.
