Trump's Cabinet: President-elect's nominees deserve benefit of the doubt

There has been much consternation and gnashing of teeth over Donald Trump's choices for the seats in his Cabinet.

Instead of the usual political veterans, Trump has in many cases decided to go outside the box. He wants winners, he says, people who have discovered how the American system should work.

This all should come as no surprise. Trump promised a change of scenery in the nation's capital, and he has not disappointed with his first steps. Putting people with a fresh perspective into positions of power is the quickest way to shake up what has become a Washington that Trump considers off course and unresponsive.

Change, real change, is scary, and it is no wonder that many people are concerned over the possible effect these people would have on life in our country.

But politics swings back and forth, and we think that after eight years of liberal leadership under a Democratic administration, it is only natural that a turn to the right has come about.

There is still a ways to go before Trump's nominees are confirmed, if they are. But people should give the new Cabinet post picks the benefit of the doubt. Change is in the wind for now, and for all we know, it will be a good thing for all.
