Giving smiles: Donations are still needed for Empty Stocking Fund

You should have seen the smiles on their faces.

The children who attended the Empty Stocking Fund party on Saturday were full of the real Christmas spirit. With a toy under their arm and a set of new clothes at hand, they sat in Santa Claus' lap and posed for a photograph, grinning with joy.

Your gifts helped make it possible, and for those who donated to the fund, we are grateful.

But there are still bills left to pay, and we are hoping that if you didn't already give to the fund that you will consider making it part of your holiday. Just a small donation will go a long way toward meeting the goal of paying for the party, the gifts, the clothes.

Donations may be made in honor or memory of a  loved one and will be printed on the front page of the newspaper.

You can mail a donation to The Empty Stocking Fund, c/o The News-Argus at P.O. Box 10629, Goldsboro, NC 27532 or just bring it by the newspaper office at 310 N. Berkeley Blvd.

We hope you will consider making a donation. It will warm your heart and just maybe brighten your Christmas as well.
