Schools recognized: Grantham, Spring Creek schools get national honor

Grantham and Spring Creek middle schools have been recognized as national models for energy efficiency.

Engineering News-Record listed the two new Wayne County schools as best projects in the K-12 category in the Southeast region.

It is a prestigious honor.

The schools, built by T.A. Loving Co. and Metcon Inc., demonstrate the high level of professionalism of the two companies, but they also show how the leadership of the school board and county commissioners can get things done in a first-rate manner when they decide to work together.

Other engineering firms involved in the projects include SFL+a Architects, Crawford Design Co., LHC Structural Engineers PC and Optima Engineering.

The award recognizes the innovative work planned and executed by all parties involved. It is a blue ribbon that puts Wayne County on the national map in regard to public facilities and one all the county can be proud of.
