Turnaround: Nation that went for Obama twice now turns to Trump

Sometimes, it seems that all Americans want is change. We are never satisfied with what we have, we always want something different.

How else do you explain the rise of Donald Trump, the anti-establishment candidate who is now president-elect of the United States?

To reach that lofty designation, Trump tapped a deep-rooted dissatisfaction with the status quo among voters -- especially blue-collar white men -- and carried states that had gone for Obama four years ago. Why? Because he promised to change things.

Can he pull it off? Who knows. He promised many things on the campaign trail that will be difficult to accomplish, from building a wall between the U.S. and Mexico to repealing Obamacare. We will have plenty of time now to see if he can carry out his agenda.

Trump has a Republican Congress to help, but not all of those congressional members are very fond of him. He represents change, and not all of them do. It will be interesting to see how he works with congressional leaders to put the past behind them and look to the future of America. A future few would have predicted just a month ago.
