Taste of Wayne: Annual food festival Saturday will benefit United Way

One of Wayne County's signature events, the annual Taste of Wayne, will be held this Saturday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. in downtown Goldsboro.

We hope to see you there.

The food festival features the best cuisine the county has to offer -- and all for a good cause. The event, to be held in front of City Hall, benefits United Way. Tickets are only $15. The goal is to raise $10,000, which would help improve the lives of more than 200 people.

More than 20 restaurants have already agreed to take part in the event. Participants will offer their best dishes, and if you're smart, you'll bring your appetite along. There will be a little something for everyone's palate, from fried chicken to pizza, from barbecue to a variety of desserts.

The fundraiser is one of the county's most popular events. Participants get to help choose the People's Choice Award by voting for their favorite dish -- a delightful way to help raise money for the needy and give local businesses a boost at the same time.

So come on out on Saturday. You'll get a chance to sample the best food in Wayne County and do it for a good cause at the same time.
