Making history: We wish it were someone else to break gender barrier

The nomination of Hillary Clinton as the Democratic candidate for president is now a part of history.

It is good that the "glass ceiling" has been broken. Gender barriers to high political office are not appropriate and no longer relevant to today's world. Women are just as capable of doing a job as men, and the office of president is no different than any other.

We just wish it was someone other than Clinton, who carries so much baggage, to break the barrier.

She is no doubt capable of carrying out the duties of the office, but we, like so many others, have doubts about her personal integrity, especially in light of her cavalier use of personal emails to convey classified documents and her denial of having broken the law in doing so. Also, her decisions in the Benghazi incident call her judgment into question.

Overall, her recent past leaves a bad taste in the mouth. And we don't like having a bad taste when it comes to voting for president. We want someone we can trust to be in charge, and Clinton does not strike us as completely trustworthy.

Besides, the thought of having Bill Clinton back in the White House -- in any capacity -- gives us the heebie-jeebies.
