Poor taste: Trump's praise of Saddam Hussein shows lack of judgment

Donald Trump should be ashamed of himself. But we doubt if the emotion has ever raised itself up in his breast.

Trump praised late dictator Saddam Hussein this week for being good at killing terrorists.

No, Donald. Saddam was good at killing, period. It didn't matter to the Iraqi strongman whether it was a terrorist or a 5-year-old child, if they were in his way he got rid of them.

For a presidential candidate to talk so loosely about a mass murderer shows a lack of both compassion and judgment. The latter is something he has criticized his forthcoming opponent, Hillary Clinton, for and we agree with him there. But to equate Saddam with anything good is appalling and makes us question what kind of president Trump might prove to be.

There are American families who lost loved ones fighting against Saddam's brutal regime. How are they to take Trump's statement? It is a slap in their faces and a terrible way to show respect for those men and women who died while fighting to see that the despot was removed from power.

Honestly, between Clinton's sneakiness and Trump's ridiculous bombast, it is getting to be a very tough time to be a thoughtful voter in this country.
