One voice: Trump, Ryan meeting gives Republicans hope for November

The chances of a unified Republican party grew by leaps and bounds Thursday as House Speaker Paul Ryan and Donald Trump reached an agreement to work together to stop Democrat Hillary Clinton from taking the White House.

Thank goodness.

Ryan stopped short of endorsing the controversial Trump, but the two men released a joint statement after their meeting saying that they will take the necessary steps to bring together a splintered GOP.

Ryan said after the meeting that he and Trump had "planted the seeds" of reconciliation. Trump, for his part, said that although he and Ryan still have their differences, they are on the same page on most issues.

Trump has become a polarizing figure in American politics. Either you love him or you hate him. But many Republicans who had said they would not vote for him have come to realize that Trump is the only horse in the race and have changed their stance.

Unless Trump can get the support of the vast majority of Republicans, as well as those of unaffiliated voters, he can kiss the presidency goodbye.
