Sorry, Bruce: The Boss has his principles. So do we.

Bruce Springsteen has canceled his planned concert in Greensboro, North Carolina. A lot of fans are disappointed.

His publicist said it was because he disapproves of the recent law approved by the state General Assembly prohibiting transgender people from using the public restroom of their gender identity, instead of their physical anatomy.

It's a shame. We would have loved to have seen the electrifying singer and showman perform.

But sometimes there are consequences when you stand up for your principles, and this is one of those instances. North Carolina has decided that it is not proper for transgender folks to be able to use the restroom of their choice but, like the rest of us, to use the one that corresponds to their anatomy. We believe that is right.

Springsteen apparently has his own principles and, to his credit, is standing by them.

So should the state of North Carolina.

We can live without seeing Springsteen in concert, if that is his choice.

He is the first big name performer to boycott the state because of the law, which has drawn fire nationwide from left-wing critics.

He won't be the last.
