Right move: Get the security in place first, then take care of refugees

It is not about prejudice or profiling -- although it probably should be in light of the events of the last week.

The reason Gov. Pat McCrory and 25 other governors have pushed to put an end to the arrival of Syrian refugees into their states is that they do not trust that the federal government has the procedures in place to make sure their citizens will remain safe.

And, in case you missed it, some of the Paris attackers had Syrian refugee papers on them when they launched their bloody massacre.

That means they slipped in with the refugees.

So, while President Barack Obama can continue to talk about letting 10,000 Syrian refugees into the country, and to try to shame the country into blindly accepting their arrival, there is real reason to be concerned.

Before this nation opens its borders, again, without proper means to screen those who are seeking asylum here, somebody somewhere better speak up. Once the screening procedure is in place, then we can talk about how many and when.

Despite what the president seems to think, this is our country. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with making sure it and its citizens are protected.
